Project description: Distributed Media Lab will develop a distributed model for syndication using AMP, expanding revenue potential for advertising and donation/membership revenue models.

Why we’re supporting this project: News organizations are increasingly open to sharing content, but revenue benefits are sometimes indirect. This project explores a way that syndicated content can drive a new revenue source for the original publisher while also benefiting the partner who is distributing the story. Distributed Media Lab is partnering with CALMatters, a statewide nonprofit covering California politics, for this project. CALMatters co-publishes much of its reporting with other news organizations. One of the goals of this project is to see if this technology can increase donations to CALMatters.
