For nearly a generation, Stephan Salisbury (1947-2024) was a dedicated culture writer at The Philadelphia Inquirer who believed in the city’s exceptional uniqueness and understood that its future depends on the protection of cultural assets and its ongoing creation of culture.

The Stephan Salisbury Internship for Arts Journalism at The Inquirer will be established to honor Salisbury’s memory and to advance this mission into the next generation. The paid, nine-week internship will be administered by The Philadelphia Inquirer in association with the Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University and The Lenfest Institute for Journalism.
