Joseph Lichterman

Head of Communications and Editorial

Joseph Lichterman is the Lenfest Institute’s Head of Communications and Editorial. Joseph leads the Institute’s publishing, research, and communications. He helped launch The Lenfest News Philanthropy Network and the Statewide News Collective, and he co-created tools and resources including The Membership Guide, The Collaborative Sustainability Guide, The Newsletter Guide, and the Solution Set newsletter. 

Joseph was a 2023 Sulzberger Executive Leadership Fellow at Columbia University. Prior to joining the Institute, he was a staff writer at the Nieman Journalism Lab at Harvard University. He also previously reported for Reuters in its Detroit bureau. Joseph lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan. When not spending time with his wife, son, dog, and cat, he’s obsessing over University of Michigan sports and slowly running or riding his bike.
